NUTLEY, NJ - Officers from the Nutley Police Department responded to a Harrison St. business on Thursday following a report of toothpaste. Upon arrival, they discovered that the suspect put 17 boxes of toothpaste in his jacket and left the store.

According to the police, the store manager had the suspect with him when the police were notified of the incident. 

Omar Ortega Ocasio, 42, of Newark was spotted in the store placing the boxes of toothpaste, valued at over $130, in his jacket. He then left without paying.

When the police arrived, Ocasio cooperated with police and returned the items to the store. He was then placed under arrest, transported to Nutley Police Headquarters on Chestnut St. where he was charted with shoplifting. After being advised of this court date he was released.

It is not known if he smiled in his police photo.
