NUTLEY, NJ - It wasn't long after news broke about a new tenant at Prism's On3 campus in Nutley that local business owners began to express their happiness about the prospects for the local small business economy. TAPinto caught up with Khris Reina, owner of the Oakley Kitchen and Cocktails on Bloomfield Ave.
"I'm so relieved that the trophy building on On3 is finally leased." Reina said. "Locals have kept us (the Oakley) afloat with takeout and delivery, and now rooftop dining, but we really need to build up more of a lunch business."
TAPinto Nutley reported earlier in the day that Eisai Pharmaceuticals leased the entire 15-story LEED Gold certified tower on the On3 campus. The Oakley is located directly across from the bio-science and innovation campus.
"Our hope has always been that employees at On3 would supply us with that lunch and happy hour crowd." he said. "We saw a little pop when Ralph Lauren moved in November, and now with 1200 employees coming in 2021, we should have a strong lunch and happy hour."
Reina and his team didn't sit idle during the COVID-19 shut down. From the very first weekend of the shutdown, through today, they added family meal trays for takeout, added outdoor dining, opened their outdoor terrace dining area, and recently brought back live music.
"Bringing live music in every night, I'm hoping to create a high-energy place from lunch until late night." Reina said.
The Oakley is located at 789 Bloomfield Ave.
