WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Oak Barrel Pub, located at 440 Main St. in West Orange, opened for business on Monday. The site of the former Gaffers Pub, a long-established West Orange eatery, the Oak Barrel is managed by former Gaffers managers Frank Attamante and Chris O'Connell, along with lifelong West Orange resident Bill Kehoe.
After extensive renovations and repairs, the Oak Barrel debuted with a 'soft opening' Monday evening and will continue through Dec. 1, opening at 4 p.m. with a limited menu. As of Dec. 2, the pub launches into full operation, with lunch and dinner menus from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday.
Sunday hours will be noon through 2 a.m.
With fixtures from the recently demolished Pals Cabin, and photos of West Orange history dotted throughout the completely refurbished locale, Kehoe, Attamante and O'Connell hope to draw patrons from all over the West Orange and Essex County communities.
The Pub is family-friendly and offers children's menus as well as a large open bar area with flat screens, tap beers, and comprehensive bar menu.
The menu features old Gaffers favorites, including their renown pork chops, and appetizers and pub fare at reasonable prices.
