HAWTHORNE, NJ - Mayor Goldberg released his Thursday letter to the borough which reads below.
Just a reminder that next week there will be only one letter on Tuesday, August 4th. If anything urgent happens, we will notify you via nixle.
Today’s numbers, as of this morning, are 442 total positives, with 20 fatalities and 3 actives. We have slowly seen an uptick in the numbers after weeks of reducing the active cases.
We must not let our guard down or return to risky behavior. We have done a great job of flattening the curve, but the battle appears far from over. Keep wearing your mask and practice social distancing. This not only protects you, but those around you.
If you haven’t filled out your Census form, please do so. It only takes a few minutes, and it will help the Borough, the County and the State in ways you can’t imagine. Please remember to be responsible when enjoying outdoor dining. Sometimes we forget we have removed our masks and then we interact with people thinking we are all protected.
The heat wave continues, so be careful if working outdoors without hydrating. Check in on your elderly neighbors, and enjoy our municipal pool to cool off.
Please be aware the Borough has a fully stocked non-perishable food pantry. This is due to the generosity of the Hawthorne Community. If you need food and can’t afford or can’t get to a supermarket, please call the Board of Health at 973-427- 4011 or 973-427-4012.
The Municipal Building is open, and we are here to assist you. If you have any questions, please call 973-427-5555 and follow the prompts for the various departments.
