WEST ORANGE, NJ - The National Council of Jewish Women has announced that they are holding their "One Billion Rising" event in Essex County on February 14, 2014 at the West Orange Armory, 1315 Pleasant Valley Way, from noon to 1:00 p.m. In conjunction with several organizations and individuals, the gathering seeks to promote the end of Violence against Women and Girls.
The One Billion Rising event is held worldwide on Feb. 14 to take a stand against all forms of violence toward women: domestic, rape, teen dating abuse, human trafficking, mutilation and slavery. One Billion rising also seeks justic and gender equality for all women. According to statistics, one in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime --that equates to one billion women worldwide.
The event will include music, dancing and speakers, and provide information and resources that address violence against women and girls. All attendees will receive a complimentary One Billion Rising T-Shirt.
