WESTFIELD, NJ — Holiday shoppers loyal to Westfield merchants can browse and buy at a slate of stores using an option with the best in social distance: an online marketplace.
Evalyn Dunn Gallery of Art, Sole Shoes and Cinnaholic are among the Westfield merchants participating in Beyond Main Downtown Westfield, an online shopping venue that provides in-store pickup and curbside delivery through a partnership with the town’s special improvement district, Downtown Westfield Corporation announced.
“Our business owners have demonstrated remarkable resilience in a year like no other, and the coming weeks will be critical for them,” said Downtown Westfield Corporation Executive Director Bob Zuckerman in a statement. “Providing additional consumer options like the services of Beyond Main are instrumental in our efforts to keep the focus on shopping local.”
Shops are offering both gift cards and merchandise available for purchase from both desktop and mobile devices, officials said.
While more shops are anticipated to join, the ones online as of Friday are as follows, according to the DWC:
Ahrre's Coffee Roastery
The Chocolate Bar
Evalyn Dunn Gallery of Art
Indigo Art Studio
Mimi and Hill
Outta Hand Pizza
Patricia and Paul's Artisans of Fine Oils and Balsalmics
“We’ve signed up a lot more stores in the last two weeks and more are on the way,” Zuckerman told TAPinto Westfield.
Starting Dec. 5, gift cards will also be available for purchase on Beyond Main Westfield, the DWC announcement said.
During a recent DWC meeting, Councilwoman Dawn Mackey, the council’s representative to the DWC board, said the initiative started with an effort to get parents purchasing gifts for their children’s teachers to shop locally. A portion of a recent grant from Main Street New Jersey’s COVID-19 relief will fund the administration of the site.
“It is the perfect opportunity and time for our merchants to have an online presence like this, all in one place,” Mackey said. “And I’m really, really hoping it’s going to drive a lot of extra dollars that normally never make their way to our downtown.”
Promotion of the online shop comes in the lead up to Cyber Monday, Nov. 30.
“The Westfield community is incredibly loyal to its dedicated local business owners, and Beyond Main provides residents and visitors with improved access to their favorite products and services,” said Mayor Shelley Brindle in the statement. “This is an important addition to our ongoing efforts to support Downtown Westfield as they kick off their most vital timeframe of the year.”
