Families from across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania are invited to the 660-acre Fairview Lake YMCA Camps to explore traditional and specialized camp options — including a new extended outdoor adventure camp — available in the summer of 2019. Children and parents can speak with staff and tour the property from 2-4 p.m. to learn about Fairview Lake YMCA’s two dozen camps and trips, which span the traditional to the artistic to the adventurous.
Starting this summer, the YMCA will offer Taste of Tradition, a one-week introduction to sleepaway camp. Like traditional camp, Taste of Tradition allows children to choose their activities and sleep in cabins, Summer Camp Director Emily Rearer said. Taste of Tradition also allows families to extend the traditional three-week experience by a week or two, Rearer said.
Explorers is the newest Environmental Trips for Challenge. Campers will go on extended excursions into nature, Rearer said. Farm Camp, in which children learn to take care of goats, chickens and bunnies, returns for a second summer. Sailing and Windsurfing Camp will be offered at the end of summer and campers will stay in seasonal cabins, she noted.
Each summer, Fairview Lake YMCA attracts more than 1,000 campers ages 6 to 16. All camps are accredited by the American Camp Association.
