Outstanding Citizens To Be Honored At 9th Annual Berkeley Heights Good Scout Award Dinner

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council will be honoring local citizens at the 9th Annual Berkeley Heights Good Scout Award Dinner to be held on the evening of Wednesday, October 1, 2014.  This year’s honorees are Paul Ippolito IV; Lynn Kral; August Nunzio Santore, Sr.; Dr. Patrick Smith; and Linda Weber. The event recognizes these five outstanding citizens for their community service, as evidenced by their leadership and interests within the Berkeley Heights community, and for their embodiment of the values of the century old Scout Oath and Law in their personal and professional lives. The event chairman is Hal Daume, Ph. D., a 2012 Berkeley Heights Good Scout Award recipient and an active volunteer in the Berkeley Heights community.

Paul Ippolito is a PAL Coach and is the Owner and Operator of Paul Ippolito Memorial Home; Lynn Kral is the Committee Chair of Boy Scout Troop 68 of Berkeley Heights; August Nunzio Santore, Sr. is the Co-Owner of Garden State Fireworks; Dr. Patrick Smith is the Clinic Director of Smith Chiropractic Family Care & Sports Injury Center and the Vice Chairman of the Suburban Chamber of Commerce; and Linda Weber is the Senior Vice President at Israel Discount Bank New York and Chairperson of the Relay for Life of Berkeley Heights that benefits the American Cancer Society.

Berkeley Heights has a very active Scouting program for over 250 youth in three Cub Scout packs (for boys ages 7 to 11 years) and two Boy Scout troops (for boys ages 11-18), sponsored by the Rotary Club of Berkeley Heights; and an Explorer post (for boys and girls ages 14-21) sponsored by the Berkeley Heights Rescue Squad. Berkeley Heights is a part of the Watchung Mountain District of the Patriots’ Path Council, Boy Scouts of America.  In this district, some 3,000 youth are served by over 70 Scouting units in communities like ours throughout Union, Morris and Somerset Counties.
