Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council will be honoring local citizens at the 2020 Springfield-Union Good Scout Awards Dinner to be held on the evening of Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Galloping Hill Caterers in Union at 6:30 pm. This year’s honorees are Carolyn Beauchamp, Christopher Capodice, Sr., Guy A. Francis, M.D., Maplecrest Ford Lincoln of Union/Maplecrest Moves Charities, Eugene Mitchell, and Lazara Rovira.
The event recognizes these honorees for their service, as evidenced by their leadership and interests within the Springfield/Union community, and for their embodiment of the values of the century old Scout Oath and Law in their personal and professional lives. The event co-chairs are past Springfield-Union Good Scout Award Recipients, David A. Arminio and Jeff Monge.
Carolyn Beauchamp is the President and CEO of Mental Health Association of New Jersey located in Springfield. She has developed programs that empower people with mental illness and substance use disorder and created a strong statewide consumer voice that affects behavioral health policy decisions at the highest levels. Christopher Capodice, Sr. is the mayor of Springfield. He has volunteered his time as a soccer coach, scout assistant, as well as being a member of Springfield’s Planning Board, Environmental Commission, Green Team, and local PTA. Guy Francis is a physician and active member on the Union township Board of Education. Maplecrest Ford Lincoln of Union is a car dealership that has been in Union for over 50 years. Through their Maplecrest Moves Charities program, the dealership provides services and donations to non-profit organizations in the area.
Eugene Mitchell is a business development officer of RSI Bank and is the current President of the Board of Directors for Union Township Chamber of Commerce, forthcoming President of the Rotary Club of the Plainfields, Plainfield Salvation Army Advisory Board Member, Executive Board Member/Treasurer of Gateway Family YMCA, a member of the Rotary Club Bowling League, and Board Member with Union County Educational Services Foundation. Lazara Rovira is the PTA president of Kawameeh Middle School and the assistant Scoutmaster of Scouts BSA Troop 68, Union.
Springfield and Union are a part of the Patriots’ Path Council, Boy Scouts of America which serves 15,000 youth in over 400 Scouting units in communities throughout Morris, Middlesex, Somerset, Sussex, and Union Counties.
