EDISON, NJ – The Pakistani community in New Jersey celebrated for first time the Pakistani Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony at Lake Papaianni in Edison, NJ, last Saturday.

“This is the first time Pakistani community organized flag hoisting ceremony in Edison and was attended by more than 500 people,” said Sam Khan, Founder and Chairman of Pakistan American Council. “We were excited by the turnout.”

Members of the Pakistani-American community proudly wave American and Pakistani flags as they proceeded to the flag raising ceremony.

The Council General of Pakistan from New York, Raja Ejaz Ali was the honored guest.

The event was attended by many public officials, among them Congressman Frank Pallone, Senator Peter Barnes, Senator Sam Thompson, Senator Linda Greenstein, Assemblyman Raj Mukherji, Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan, Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin, Middlesex County Freeholder Charles Tomaro, Edison Mayor Thomas Lankey, Somerset Mayor Brian Levine, Edison Council President Robert Karabinchak, Councilman Robert Diehl and many other leaders from Pakistani Community.

The Pakistan American Council is a non profit,non-religious, and Bipartisan organization which promotes Pakistani Americans civic participation in the United States of America, PAC-USA interest is in.Civic Education, Participation, & Leadership Training for the Pakistani American community in mainstream public affairs, civic discourse and party politics all across the United States. Fostering relations between Pakistani Americans and main stream Americans and other communities through outreach.
