Pal's Cabin To Close Its Doors on June 1

May 31, 2013 at 7:40 PM

WEST ORANGE, NJ - On June 1, Pals Cabin, located at the corner of Eagle Rock Avenue and Prospect Avenue, will close its doors.  Opened in 1932, Pals has remained a longstanding eatery in West Orange.

In calls to Pals only two weeks ago, they denied that there were any immediate plans to close, but on May 29, the following notice could be found on the Pal's website:

To Our Loyal Pals, as We End an Era

Pals Cabin will be closing the doors at its original location,
on the corner of Eagle Rock and Prospect Avenues on
Saturday, June 1, 2013.

The Horn family extends its sincere appreciation to
the generations of loyal customers and dedicated staff who
have supported Pals Cabin for over 81 years.
Future Pals Cabin announcements will be made through this website.
Please stay in touch, we look forward to what the future will bring.

Plans to build a CVS on the site of Pal's Cabin was approved at a Zoning Board meeting on March 21.

It is unknown what future plans the Horn family holds, though there has been talk of the family opening a smaller venue that will feature a simpler menu including crowd favorites, like their soups and burgers.

The community continues to wax nostalgic about the closing of an iconic venue on the Pals Facebook Page, and local crowds are expected to flock to the eatery this weekend. The Horn family also owns other venues in West Orange, notably Mayfair Farms.
