MILLBURN, NJ - The next week brings two opportunities to see the award-winning Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir, which will be performing locally on two consecutive Sundays in two venues.
This Sunday, June 22, the Show Choir will be performing a one-night-only benefit concert at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Millburn at 7 p.m.
Then, on Sunday, June 29, the choir will present its Season Finale performance at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) at 7 p.m.
They will entertain with a mix of Broadway show tunes and pop hits. Music will include fully staged production numbers from shows like Grease, South Pacific and Newsies; and popular hits including songs by Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars and John Lennon, Disney classics and more.
The choir consists of 40 young performing artists ages 16-22. Over the past two years the choir has entertained more than 50,000 people across the region with their renditions of Broadway, pop and classics.
Over the past six months, the show choir met at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in downtown Millburn, free of charge, for music and dance rehearsals to prepare for their performances.
“Paper Mill Playhouse is grateful for our partnership with St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church,” said Shayne Austin Miller, Paper Mill Playhouse Show Choir Director. “The use of this amazing and historic facility allowed our not-for-profit arts organization to provide this program tuition-free for our students. We are thrilled to present this benefit concert to Saint Stephen’s and welcome the community to join us for an inspiring evening of entertainment”
