PARKLAND, FL- Parkland's U15 Boys soccer team was the runner up in Florida's National Premier League, which is comprised of many of the best teams in the state. Their success this season has earned them an invitation to participate in the National Premier League Playoff Tournament June 28-July 2 in Rockford, Illinois.
"We are very passionate about soccer and have worked really hard to get where we are," said player Jonathan Hines. The boys U15 team has played together for two years. This is the second year they have been invited to the playoff tournament. Last year the team finished first and was invited to Lancaster, Massachusetts to compete. Due to the financial burden of the trip the team was unable to go. This year they are working hard to ensure that isn't the case. The team is working hard to raise funds by creating a GoFundMe account, car washes and pizza nights.
"We have qualified for the NPL playoffs two years back to back, but due to financial needs we were not able to go last year. I'm excited we are working towards going this year," added teammate Nick Domingos.
"The 2004 Parkland Boys Soccer team had a very good season 2018-2019 season. There was player development and great support from the parents which resulted in two consecutive years of team success." stated coach Anthony Davidson. The team hopes to compete at the next level next month in Illinois. " We have come so far and we really hope to see how far we can get." added teammate Tyler Koon.
Team members are: Andrew Naranjo, Deni Rivard, Diego Martinez, Ethan Schumaker, Iran Duran, Jonathan Hines, Juan Diaz, Kristian Gamache, Lucas Balaban, Luis Davi Girao, Nicholas Domingos, Robbie Aldaheff, Santiago Luna, Shadi Buchanan, Thiago Pinto, and Tyler Koon. The team is coached by Anthony Davidson and Fitz Sinclair.
