PATERSON, NJ- The Passaic County Women’s Center is set to host their third annual Domestic Violence Awareness month Purple Ball fundraising event on Thursday, October 18. Billed as "Casino Night" the event, honoring the Paterson Police Department and sponsored by Columbia Bank, will take place on from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Valley Regency in Clifton. The night will feature fun casino games: Blackjack, Roulette, Texas Hold Em Poker and Craps.
According to organizers tt will be an evening of games, door prizes, music, food, open bar and fun for everyone, from the novice player to the seasoned gambler.
Passaic County Women’s Center (PCWC) is a private, non-profit organization serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual violence. PCWC is open and operational 24 hours per day, 365 days a year. Services are provided to any individual who is a survivor of domestic violence and/or sexual assault, or a person of support to a survivor regardless of sex, race, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, economic status, or immigration status.
They also offer outreach services to schools and community education programs implementing creative and engaging methods of preventing domestic abuse and sexual violence.
In 2017 PCWC completed the following:
4,811 calls to their hotline
51 Women and 97 children were provided with shelter at their Safe house
1477 women, 2 children and 173 men received on site counseling services
37 adults and 176 children received family services
373 individuals went to PCWC experiencing a housing crisis received an advocate’s support.
93 individuals went to PCWC and accessed immigration advocacy.
2,796 individuals sought and received the assistance of the PVWC legal advocacy team and advocates.
480 community presentations, training, and educational workshops were provided to the community
by PVEC advocates. These presentations reached 8,189 people in 2017.
