PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson man faces charges for making terroristic threats against members of the Paterson Police Department.
According to Police Director Jerry Speziale, Edward Lawrence Jones was apprehended at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the area of 92 Carroll Street in what he termed a “soft, professional arrest.” Two handguns were also recovered in the home.
In a short video circulated online Sunday the man, identified as Edward Lawrence Jones, threatened to kill two Paterson police officers in retaliation for the death of Jameek Lowery, whom he referred to as his “little brother.”
According to law enforcement Jones repeated that Lowery was his brother though confirmation of a familial relationship has not been made.
Speziale told TAPinto Paterson that he was made aware of the video threat by other law enforcement sources and Deputy Chiefs immediately took precautions prior to the arrest.
“We can’t have officers lives being threatened,” Speziale said.
An investigation showed that Jones also has an outstanding $1,000 warrant.
