Paterson Man Arrested for Weekend Shooting

PATERSON, NJ - Police have arrested 19-year-old city resident Christian Rodriguez for the weekend shooting of a 24-year-old man during a dispute in the People's Park section of the city.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray,  at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, Officer Ediberto DelValle of the Patrol Division was in the area of Market and East 19th streets and recognized the suspect from a previously issued bulletin, and arrested him at that location with the assistance of other patrol officers.

Rodriguez, charged with attempted murder and firearms offenses, is currently being detained at the Paterson Police lockup pending an initial court appearance. Bail has been set at $750,000.00 with no 10 percent option.

The shooting for which Rodriguez is charged occurred Saturday night at around 9:40 p.m.
