HAWTHORNE, NJ - The Hawthorne Police Department has announced that Jazyre Kearney, 18, Paterson was arrested and charged with burglary and theft following an August 31 incident.

According to a report members of the Hawthorne Police Department responded to the area of Goffle Road and Macfarlan Avenue at approximately 1:26 a.m. after a report of two males pulling on car doors in the area.

Upon arrival, police found Kearney and a second male, identified as Devin Paredes, 18, Prospect Park, who, upon questioning said they had no ID on them and that they were going home after attending a party in Hawthorne.

According to the police, "several items that appeared to be from a vehicle," including a car key and a AAA membership card, were found on the ground nearby. The police found the home of the cardholder and determined that the resident's car had been entered and some things had gone missing.

A local resident had security cameras, footage of which are said to have shown the men going through cars.

Kearney was released pending a court date.
