Paterson Man Found Dead on Route 20 Wednesday Morning

PATERSON, NJ - The body of a 37-year-old city man was found by the side of Route 20 on Wednesday morning.

According to Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez, Paterson police were notified at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday of a body on McLean Blvd./Route 20 North just before Third Avenue. When police arrived on the scene, they found Corey M. Armstead, a resident of Butler Street, with an undisclosed gunshot wound.

Armstead was unresponsive at the scene and, after emergency personnel were summoned, he was pronounced dead.

The investigation was continuing throughout the night Wednesday. Anyone with information on the circumstances surrounding Armstead's death are urged to contact the Detective Division of the Paterson Police Department at (973) 321-1120.
