FAIR LAWN, NJ - A 56-year-old Westfield man's stolen 2018 Ford F150 pickup truck was recovered and the thief arrested a week after it was taken from a Crunch Fitness parking lot.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on May 15 the man reported noticing his keys were missing from his jacket, which had been in a locker, and subsequently realized his car was no longer in the parking lot.

Detectives were able to secure a photo of the alleged thief from surveillance video installed at the gym.

The suspect, later identified as David DeLaurentis, 30, of Paterson, was subsequently arrested during a separate incident in the early hours of Wednesday when he was said to be involved in a dipute with the driver while travelling on a New Jersey Transit bus.

DeLaurentis, who was also said to be in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest, allegedly told police that after taking the vehicle and changing the license plates it became disabled in Denville where he abandoned it. The vehicle was subsequently towed by the Denville Police Department.
