Paterson Police Hunt for Murder Suspect


PATERSON, NJ - Paterson police are searching for Courtney Simpson, 30, in connection with the fatal shooting of Ferron Green, 35, a month ago.

Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez issued this statement late Thursday:

On the early morning hours of Saturday, February 22, 2014 Officers from the Patrol Division, responded to the area of Ellison Street & E18th Street on a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located gunshot victim, Ferron Green, 07/78, of 14th Ave. Paterson, who sustained (2) fatal gunshot wounds.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division along with the Passaic County Prosecutors Office were notified and responded to the scene. During the detectives intensive investigation they learned that a verbal altercation ensued inside 478 Ellison St.  The verbal altercation spilled onto the parking lot of a small shopping center located in the area of E18th Street and Ellison Street. Once there Courtney Simpson 03/15/83, last known to be living on the 600 block of E. 26th St. Paterson and 100 2nd St. Hackensack N.J. pointed a handgun at Mr. Green, shot him twice, killing him.


Criminal complaints have been signed against Courtney Simpson for Murder, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The suspect has not been arrested and his whereabouts is unknown at this time.


Detectives responsible for the successful closure of this case with were Det. Lt. Stanley Rodriguez, Det. Sgt. Dean Barone, Det. Ralph Fermin, Det. Aramis Alba, Det. Kelvin Matos and Det. Saussan Hajhassan.
