PATERSON, NJ  – Fifty Paterson Public Schools teachers had the chance to better prepare their classrooms for the 2019-2020 school year thanks to the generosity of Paterson native, and two-time NFL Pro Bowl Safety, Mike Adams.

Adams, through his nonprofit Team Adams Foundation, announced earlier this month that he’d be giving away $5000, in installments of $200 local teachers to spend at the Dollar Tree on West Broadway. On the day of the drawing, Adams decided to double the number of winners in the “Back to School Paterson Teacher Giveback Raffle,” awarding a total of $10,000 to 50 teachers.

“Teachers give of themselves every day, and often make personal sacrifices in order to provide their students a suitable learning environment,” said Assistant Superintendent Cicely Warren. “We greatly appreciate Mike Adams’ generosity and thoughtfulness in helping Paterson teachers create awesome classrooms for their students.”

"Every year I like to do something during back to school for the kids of Paterson,” said Adams who was on hand at Dollar Tree to greet many of the winners on Saturday. “This year I decided to see how impactful it would be to give back directly to the teachers. I'm excited to be able to help where I can."
