BRIDGEWATER, NJ- Paint crews touched up the facades of the luxury suites behind home plate, while a sign crew erected a new billboard near the left field foul pole.

A stiff wind ruffled the huge American flag in centerfield, plastered against a bright blue sky.

A few hardy members of the Somerset Patriots Fan Club sat bundled in the seats between home plate and the Patriots dugout waiting for the team to make their first appearance of the 2019 season Tuesday, the first day of Spring Training, just ten days short of the opening game.

As the early morning temperatures began to climb towards 60 degrees, the players came out on to the field with no fanfare, and began their stretching and exercise routine before the pitchers and position players broke up in to separate groups; manager Brett Jodie picked up a bat and began to hit grounders to the infielders.

It will be this way the next week at TD Bank Ballpark, as the Patriots prepare to begin the 2019 season with a 7:05 p.m. April 26th game against the New Britain Bees.
