Imagine if there were no toys or gifts for your family during the holiday season?  The fact is that poverty in the United States has hit its highest rate since the Great Depression.  Though holidays are meant to be a time of joy and happiness, families who struggle financially often find that the holiday season is a particularly trying time.

That is why Peapack-Gladstone Bank has joined up with the United Way of Northern New Jersey, Somerset County in launching its 2011 Gifts of the Season holiday gift drive.  From November 9 through December 14, Peapack-Gladstone Bank’s Bridgewater, Gladstone, Far Hills, Hillsborough, Pluckemin, Warren and Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge locations are collecting donations for needy children, teens and the elderly within Somerset County.  Gift tags designating a specific name, age, and gender will be offered in branch lobbies.  Alternatively, a generic unwrapped gift, no matter how large or small, will be accepted and matched up to a family in need..

Last year Peapack-Gladstone Bank donated hundreds of gifts toward the United Way of Northern New Jersey, Somerset County; and once again this year, through the generosity of Peapack-Gladstone Bank employees, customers and local residents, needy individuals residing in Somerset County will receive holiday cheer. Donated items are given to those who cannot afford to buy presents for their children or even those who do not have families.  For many, these are the only gifts they will receive this holiday season.

Additionally, on behalf of its employees, Peapack-Gladstone Bank has donated 20 ShopRite gift cards totaling $500.00 to the United Way of Northern New Jersey, Somerset County.  These cards will be used to provide individuals with a means to purchase staples to prepare a holiday meal for their families.

Helping those in need during these economically stressful times can be a challenge.  That is why we want YOU to help us put smiles on the faces of thousands, right in our own communities.  Together, let’s make this year’s Gifts of the Season holiday fund drive the most successful ever!
