PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating the shooting in broad daylight of a city man in the Second Ward on Friday afternoon.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray, the victim was walking in the area of Kearney Street and Crosby Avenue at 1:15 p.m. when he was approached by a suspect described as a black male. As the suspect approached, he produced a handgun and fired one round in the victim’s direction, striking him once in the leg. The victim was then taken to St. Joseph’s by private vehicle for treatment.

The victim is in stable condition with a gunshot wound in the upper part of his left leg. Officers and detectives who responded to the incident were able to locate ballistic evidence.
