NEW BRUNSWICK – A person trespassing on the tracks was hit and killed by an Amtrak train near the New Brunswick train station Wednesday night.

The unidentified person was struck at about 6:25 p.m., according to a statement from Amtrak.

The train heading to New York was delayed by more than three hours after the incident, but none of the more than 70 riders and crew members on board Amtrak Train 134 were injured.

Amtrak said it caused five other trains to be delayed.
