HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Horses and carriages were part of the 2018 Hackettstown St. Patrick’s Day Parade held on March 11.
An antique hearse drawn by a pair of black Percherons was provided by Scala Memorial Home of Hackettstown.
A team of Clydesdales pulling a wagon from Willow Grove Farms in Long Valley, N.J. participated.
If you missed the parade the Sussex County St. Patrick’s Parade is scheduled for March 17, rain or shine.
The New Jersey Quarter Horse Association, the Happy Horses 4-H Club, The New Jersey State Fair/Sussex County Farm & Horse Show 2016 Queens and the Serene Horse Ranch are signed up to participate.
It’s the 15th Anniversary of the Sussex parade.
The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. at lower Spring Street near Stuart Street. The line of march will proceed up Spring Street, turning right onto Moran Street and onto Memory Park. These streets will close beginning at 11 a.m.
The parade will feature nearly 100 units including Veterans and Active Members of the Armed Services, Police, Fire and EMS, elected officials, bands, floats, Irish Step Dancers, boy and girl scouts, local schools, accompanying service and antique vehicles, and a variety of pets. There will also be Irish theme characters and sweets and other free treats for children.
