Pingry's Big Blue Summer Now Features New Day Camp Leadership in its 31st Season With Athletic Director Gerry Vanasse at the Helm

BASKING RIDGE, NJ -  The Pingry School is pleased to announce that Athletic Director Gerry Vanasse will be overseeing and directing Pingry’s newly named “Mega-V Day Camp” for the Big Blue Summer in 2014.

Pingry Athletic Director Gerry Vanasse brings over 20 years of day camp and recreation leadership experience to his expanded role at Pingry’s campus in Basking Ridge.  His proven ability to provide imaginative activities and engaging, creative games along with the core summer fundamentals has made his camps extremely popular with children and parents for years.  Previously, Gerry was instrumental in founding and instilling a vibrant camp philosophy at Gill St. Bernard’s Mega V-Fun Camp in Somerset County where he served as Camp Director for over a decade.  In 2005, Gerry Vanasse was appointed Director of Athletics for The Pingry School where today he oversees one of the largest student athletics’ programs in New Jersey that includes 34 Varsity level teams in 19 different sports categories.  Vanasse and his staff coordinate over 1,200 athletic contests each school year.

Under his supervision, The Pingry Summer Day Camp, in existence for 30 years, will be transformed into the “Mega-V Day Camp” offering children ages 3 to 13 a memorable and eventful camp experience filled with athletics, aquatics, games, songs, crafts, and activities that capture their imagination.  Mega-V campers are taught how to utilize teamwork and strategy to achieve their goals, involving every camper in the process.

Big Blue Summer Programs are offered at both the Pingry Short Hills and Basking Ridge campuses beginning June 9th running through August 15th.  Pingry’s Mega-V Day Camp program is offered at the Basking Ridge Campus from June 30th to August 8th along with over 30 summer academic programs and a variety of sport-specific camps.
