TRENTON, NJ - East Brunswick Councilwoman Nancy Pinkin was sworn in as the newest member of the 18th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly on Tuesday.
Pinkin took her oath of office during the Assembly’s reorganization meeting at the War Memorial. She joins Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan in representing the residents of the 18th district.
“I am thankful to the voters who placed their confidence in me. Serving in elected office is a privilege and responsibility I hold in the highest regard," said Pinkin (D-Middlesex). "As the newest 18th district representative, I look forward to working with my fellow colleagues in the Assembly and tapping into my experience in health care and prudent fiscal management to bring forth legislation that will help better the lives of residents in Middlesex County and all of New Jersey.”
Pinkin runs her own healthcare and association management consulting firm, Pinkin Associates, Inc., and has an extensive background in healthcare administration, with an expertise in ambulatory care and medical practice management. She is also the Executive Director of the Middlesex and Mercer County Medical Societies. Pinkin has served on the East Brunswick Township Council since 2005, including a two year term as Council President.
During her time on council, Pinkin has been a leader in keeping East Brunswick affordable, working to save taxpayers millions of dollars through dissolving the independent sewage authority, consolidating departments and streamlining services. Pinkin received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers while working full time. She holds a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in health administration from New York University, and completed a postgraduate fellowship in Health Policy and Research at UMDNJ -- where she also served as health policy advisor to the late Senator Jack Sinagra.
Pinkin is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has been active in many community organizations including serving as a Girl Scout leader, citizenship badge instructor for Boy Scouts, Friends of the Environment, EB Business Alliance, and is a member of the East Brunswick VFW Auxiliary.
The 18th district covers East Brunswick, Edison, Helmetta, Highland Park, Metuchen, South Plainfield and South River.
