NUTLEY, NJ – New Providence attackers Jack Harvey and James Burke combined for sox goals to lead the Pioneers past Nutley, 8-6.
Playing on the road for the second time to open the year, New Providence held off Nutley, who scored three fourth quarter goals before eventually meeting their demise.
New Providence led by only one at the half, but scored three times in the third quarter to go ahead 7-3.
The Raiders answered with three scores of their own in the fourth but Pioneer goalie Garrett Pope was able to make 13 saves to win the second game of his career.
Quinn Killeen and Jon Ebert each added goals for the Pioneers, who improved to 2-0 in the early season.
New Providence is back in action on Saturday when they visit Sparta for a matchup with Pope John.
