PISCATAWAY, NJ — Sadly, Middlesex County health officials reported one new death over the weekend, increasing the death toll to 36 for Piscataway. 

Four more positive COVID-19 cases were reported since Friday, bringing the total to 887 Piscataway residents who have tested positive for COVID-19.  No additional information regarding the new cases was provided.

According to covid19.nj.gov, there are now 17,035 positive cases in Middlesex County and 1,169 deaths.

As of Sunday afternoon, there are a total of 175,298 positive coronavirus cases since the pandemic began its spread in the state 133 days ago. There are 13,594 deaths, and 1,947 probable COVID-19 deaths, according to covid19.nj.gov.

There have been 1,685,604 COVID-19 tests administered statewide. 

Also, as of Sunday afternoon, there were 890 patients in hospitals with 163 patients in either critical or intensive care and 86 ventilators in use, and there were 98 live patients discharged from the hospital, according to covid19.nj.gov.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New Jersey, and public health officials when it comes to social distancing, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting common areas. These are the best ways to reduce the rapid spread of the virus.
