Plainfield Man Charged with Murder for December Shooting

PLAINFIELD, NJ - A Plainfield resident has been arrested and charged with shooting a man to death approximately two months ago, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Saturday.

Complaints charging murder and weapons offenses were filed against Lavarr Nowell, 22, of Randolph Road in Plainfield in connection with the death of 21-year-old Dawud Hicks, also a Plainfield resident.

On the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, Plainfield police officers rushed to the 300 block of Manson Place to find Hicks suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
