'Playground Build' to Donate New Playgrounds to Two Paterson Schools

PATERSON, N.J. – The students at two Paterson elementary schools will soon have a new obstacle to climb during recess.

Funded by the City of Paterson through a Community Development Block Grant, with the assistance of the New Jersey Community Development Corporation and Paterson Public Schools, called Playground Build, elementary schools No. 2 and No. 7 will have new playgrounds built over the next two weeks.

Public School No. 2’s build will occur on Saturday, June 14, while No. 7’s new equipment will go up on Saturday, June 21.

According to a press release from the NJCDC, playing outside provides youth with cognitive, social, emotional and physical benefits.

“The two new playgrounds will provide a safe, open space for children to play during and beyond school hours,” the release said. “Volunteers from Great Falls YouthBuild will also help install new plant beds and benches for the playgrounds.”

Playground Build festivities will include food, music and lots of fun activities for the children including face painting, balloon sculpting, and more!
