Continuing a popular poetry series, three poets whose work has appeared in Tiferet Journal will read from the publication and their other works in Summit on Sunday, April 21, at Mondo, 426 Springfield Avenue, Summit, at 2 p.m. The reading, which is free, is jointly sponsored by Tiferet and The Writers Circle.
Poets Renée Ashley, Donna Baier Stein, and Adele Kenny publish widely in journals and anthologies. The poets will sign their books and answer questions about their craft. An open reading will follow the featured readers.
Renée Ashley, a Ringwood resident, teaches in Fairleigh Dickinson University’s MFA in Creative Writing and MA in Creative Writing and Literature for Educators programs. Her books include Salt (Brittingham Prize in Poetry, Univ. of Wisconsin Press); The Various Reasons of Light; The Revisionist’s Dream; and Basic Heart (X. J. Kennedy Poetry Prize, Texas Review Press), as well as two chapbooks and a novel. Her fifth collection, Because I Am the Shore I Want to Be the Sea, will be published in 2013. She has received fellowships in both poetry and prose from New Jersey State Council on the Arts and a fellowship in poetry from the National Endowment of the Arts.
Bernardsville resident Donna Baier Stein's writing has appeared in New York Quarterly, Virginia Quarterly Review, Prairie Schooner and many other journals and anthologies She has received a fellowship from Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars, a scholarship from Bread Loaf Writers Conference, the PEN/New England Discovery Award, finalist designation in Iowa Fiction Awards, honorable mention in Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards, four Pushcart nominations, and more. She was a founding poetry editor of Bellevue Literary Review and is founder and publisher of TIFERET Journal. Her book Sometimes You Sense the Difference (Finishing Line Press) was published in 2012.
Adele Kenny of Fanwood is the author of twenty-three books (poetry & nonfiction) with poems published in journals worldwide, as well as in books and anthologies from Crown, Tuttle, Shambhala, and McGraw-Hill. A former creative writing professor in the College of New Rochelle’s Graduate School, she is founding director of the Carriage House Poetry Series and poetry editor of Tiferet Journal. Among other awards, she has received two poetry fellowships from the NJ State Arts Council and the 2012 International Book Award for Poetry for her poetry collection What Matters. She has read in the United States, England, Ireland, and France, and has twice been a featured reader at the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival.

She adds, “Mondo, a setting for the very successful Writers Circle workshops is a perfect arena for this spring presentation. We look forward to additional gatherings at this site which, in addition to its tenure as a fine dining destination, now is identified as a setting that enhances awareness of the written word.”
