PATERSON, N.J. – An arrest has been made in the investigation surrounding a shooting incident that occurred on July 19.
18 year old resident Daquan Owen was detained earlier today by the Paterson Police Department’s Ceasefire Unit following an almost two-week long investigation.
Owen was charged with Attempted Murder and Weapon Possession after detectives determined he was involved in the shooting of a 28 year old resident on Park Avenue and Carroll Street two Saturdays ago.
On the night of the incident, police were dispatched to the scene at 3:40 a.m. on a report of shots fired. When authorities arrived at the scene, they were unable to locate the victim until a call came from Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center that a gunshot victim had arrived at the hospital.
Police believe the victim was trying to flee the area when the suspect shot him in the leg.
Detectives Edgar Taylor and Rolando Polio of the Ceasefire Unit arrested Owen today. He is currently being held at the Paterson Police Department’s Cellblock awaiting his initial court hearing.
The investigation of the incident is currently on-going.
