ROSELLE PARK, NJ - On Sunday at approximately 1:02 a.m., Sgt. Wielgus and Ptl. Fitgerald of the Roselle Park Police Department attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on a 2006 BMW and a 2002 Ford pickup that was pulling a large landscape trailer, for a moving violation.
When both vehicles failed to stop, it led police on a chase through Roselle Park and into Elizabeth. The driver of the BMW tried to force the police vehicles off the road several times during the chase.
It was later learned that the pickup and trailer were stolen from Market Street in Kenilworth approximately 10 minutes prior to the attempted traffic stop. The owner of the trailer stated that there was approximately $40,000 worth of commercial grade landscape equipment stored inside.
Both Roselle Park and Kenilworth Police are still working on the investigation.
