Police Investigate 1st Ward Shooting Sunday Morning

PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating the shooting of a 21-year-old man in the 1st Ward early Sunday morning.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray, the victim, a Paterson resident, was walking in the area of Clinton and North 4th streets at around 2:10 a.m. Sunday when "a mini-van type vehicle pulled alongside of him, at which time a subject described as a black male passenger wearing a mask exited the vehicle, and began firing at the victim, at which time he was struck once."

The victim, who was struck in the right hand, sought help from an acquaintance who lives in the neighborhood, and police and medical personnel were contacted at that time. The minivan was described as a “dark green” color with tinted windows. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and his condition is stable.
