NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A $750 reward is being offered by Somerset County Crime Stoppers for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect(s) in the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old North Plainfield man Aug. 19, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Robertson provided the following account:

A 911 call was received at 2:18 a.m. reporting a fight in the area of Grove Street in North Plainfield. Police Officers found the victim, Nelson Noe Garcia-Lopez, suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Crime Scene Units, the North Plainfield Police Department, and medical investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded to conduct the investigation. A post mortem examination will be performed on Lopez to determine the cause and manner of death.
