Police: Local Man Suffers Gunshot Wound Early Wednesday Morning

PATERSON, N.J. – A 23 year old male is recovering from a gunshot wound to the arm that occurred early Wednesday morning.

The unnamed victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center after Paterson police responded to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system notification at approximately 5:15 a.m., according to Detective Lieutenant Patrick Murray

The local resident was found by police sitting in front of a East 18 Street/16th Avenue and Park Avenue residence. Officers believe the victim was in a verbal dispute with a second male, who produced a handgun and fired at the victim.

According to Murray, the victim is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

The investigation is continuing at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Edgar Taylor or Detective Rolando Polio of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
