NEWARK, NJ - Law enforcement officials have charged Kenneth Jones of Montclair, with the
fatal stabbing of Tameeka Johnson, 41, also of Montclair.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Montclair Police Chief Todd Conforti announced Thursday, that Jones has been charged and they are seeking his whereabouts.
On November 12, Montclair Police discovered the victim in the Greenwood Avenue apartment where she resided with Jones. Before the police arrived, Jones fled the scene. He remains at large and is charged with murder and weapons offenses.
According to police officials, these are merely accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The investigation, which is active and ongoing, is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and Montclair Police Department.
