Police Shooting Still Being Investigated


ELIZABETH, NJ – Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced that Monday's shooting of a South Plainfield off-duty police officer occurred in the100 block section of Bayway in Elizabeth. The shooting took place around 2 a.m. just outside the Jersey Girls nightclub in Elizabeth.

Park said the shooting remains under investigation, and urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact detective Rudy Correia of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office at (908) 418-5800.

At Monday night's South Plainfield Borough Council meeting, Council President Ray Rusnak announced Officer Ahmad Stuckey was still in surgery at the time of the meeting. Rusnak said, “Officer Stuckey’s wounds were not life threatening, but I understand they are significant.”

Rusnak asked all residents to keep Stuckey and his family in their prayers and hoped the officer would have a full and speedy recovery.
