The Police Unity Tour made its way through Bridgewater and much of Somerset County Friday, as officers began the bicycle ride down to Washington D.C.

Law enforcement officers participating in the tour were riding in memory of fellow brothers and sisters who have died in the line of duty. They will arrive in Washington D.C. Sunday, concluding the trip at the Law Enforcement Memorial.

Bridgewater Township Police Chief Manny Caravela said five officers and one dispatcher were taking part in the ride.

The riders traveled down Route 202/206 in Bridgewater around 1:30 p.m. on their way to Main Street in Somerville, where the Raritan and Somerville fire companies were waiting to greet them and wish them well.
