SHORT HILLS, NJ - A portion of the ground floor level parking area at The Mall at Short Hills near Bloomingdale’s collapsed on Friday morning. The Millburn Fire Department was called to the scene to investigate. They found that a portion of concrete slab measuring about 40 feet square fell to the underground parking level.
Michael McAvinue, the mall’s general manager, said that the structure collapsed at about 5 a.m. and that no one was injured.
The cause appears to have been the weight of the snow that had been moved from nearby parking areas and piled onto the slab.
