April 26, 2013 at 8:53 AM

Two Sussex County men were arrested on drug related charges late Saturday morning after they were observed traveling in a vehicle and not wearing their seatbelts.  At 10:04 am, Sgt. Jeffrey Mase was on routine patrol traveling on West Mountain Road where he observed a red 1993 Ford pick-up truck and the seatbelt violations.

After stopping the vehicle and speaking to the operator 19-year-old Wantage resident, Justin T. Lott, the sergeant detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana. After conducting a consent to search on the vehicle, both Lott and his 19-year-old passenger Douglas W. Brisbane of Lafayette were arrested for possession of marijuana.   Brisbane was found in possession of a multi-colored ceramic smoking pipe containing burnt marijuana residue in his pant’s pocket.  A metallic grinder containing marijuana residue was found in the glove compartment along with two small ziplock bags containing 50 grams or less of marijuana that was found inside a fuse container.
Both men were transported to police headquarters for processing.  The duo was charged with; Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Wear Seatbelts.  Lott was additionally charged with; Possession of a Controlled dangerous Substance in a Vehicle and Failure to Inspect.  They were released on their own recognizance several hours later.  Officer Kurt Morris assisted with the investigation.
