Possible Criminal Charges for False 911 Call to West Orange Police Department

WEST ORANGE, NJ - A third-party 911 call to the West Orange Police Department caused multiple agencies to respond to 68 Blackburne Terr. this afternoon. The call, however, was determined to be a false alarm.

News outlets began reporting around 2:30 p.m. that a potential hostage situation, including weapons, was active. Multiple agencies responded to the call at 68 Blackburne Terr. It was later determined that the incident was a hoax, possibly from a third party.  

West Orange Police said the incident is under investigation and there may be possible criminal charges. More details and information are expected to be released tomorrow. Police would not comment further at this time.
