As temperatures rise and signs of spring start arriving, we can finally take a deep breath and realize that winter's cold chill is going to be replaced by spring's warmth and blooms.  Once all that snow has melted away, there are a few key things you can do to ensure that your plants, shrubs and yard flourish in the spring and summer weather!
First of all, visually inspect what your plants look like without a foot of snow.  Do you see broken limbs or misshaped branches?  Spring is a great time to prune some of your trees and shrubs if they are not budding yet.  Do you feel like a tree or shrub just "doesn't look healthy"?  If so, it may not make it through the warmer temperatures and it might need to be replaced.  Spring is the perfect time to move shrubs around and plant new ones.
Secondly, spring is a great time to apply fertilizer to your plants and lawn.  Such fertilizers include crabgrass, pre-emergent with fertilizer and broad leaf weed control.  Applying fertilizers at the right time will help keep pesky bugs and diseases from damaging your landscape.
Thirdly and possibly the most important thing to remember to do is to clean up your yard and flower beds from debris that has collected through the winter.  Any extra debris can cause damage to your yard and not allow the proper nutrients to reach the roots of your lawn, plants and shrubs.
Ince Landscape Construction & Management offers comprehensive services to give you a healthy and beautiful lawn and landscape, including pruning, softscape and spring cleanup.
