SAGE Eldercare’s Resale Shop, located at 31B Chatham Road in Summit, is looking for donations of prom dresses and tuxedos during the month of February and March. Items can be dropped off during normal business hours, Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. The sale for the dresses and tuxedos will begin on Monday, April 1.
“We are putting together a special prom event and would love to receive donations of current or recently used prom dresses and tuxedos. A good indication of the styles of dresses and tuxes we are looking for are those worn by celebrities, models and pageant contestants,” stated Rose Rittweger, Manager of SAGE Eldercare Resale Shop. “Our main goal is to obtain current fashion that will be desired by our shoppers.”
The event will give high school students an option for their prom attire so that those students who might not be able to afford full-priced clothing, might be able to select a dress or tux at SAGE’s Resale Shop at a discounted price.
In addition to clothing, SAGE’s Resale Shop offers a variety of goods, including furniture, housewares, china, linens, jewelry, bric-a-brac, collectibles and books. There is a continual turnover of merchandise and at the beginning of the year after the holidays, people tend to clean out their closets and donate older items to thrift stores.
The Resale Shop’s unusual variety and exceptional quality of goods, along with reasonable prices, have attracted shoppers and collectors from Summit and the surrounding areas since it opened its doors in 1959. Shoppers at the Resale Shop have the added benefit of knowing they are supporting the valuable services SAGE provides to older adults in the region.
