PATERSON,NJ- The Paterson Police Department’s new Quality of Life details are paying off, according to a report by Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale.

On Monday Speziale announced that at approximately 12:40 a.m. Detective Sgt. Richard LaTrecchia and Detective Gilot Castor, both assigned to the detail, responded to a call of a man with a gun in the area of 42 Auburn Street. 

Arriving on the scene within about a minute, Speziale said, the detectives observed a male who matched the description of the suspect, and, upon approaching him observed a silver revolver in the bag he was holding.

The suspect, identified as Max Rodriguez, 22, Paterson, was arrested and transported to Paterson Police Headquarters. 

This was the second gun secured in three weeks by the Quality of Life detail according to Speziale who added that the assigned units are “yielding weapons as well as curbing disorder, disturbance and crime in our city “
