Quarterfinal round for Sparta High School Lacrosse Teams

SPARTA, NJ-Playing in the Quarterfinal Round of the Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex tournament, Sparta beat Vernon 17-4 at home.  Zack Eberding, Skyler Francisco and Tyler Mead all had three goals.  Jack Bushey, Andrew Smith and Cole Zugelder each contributed two goals.   Also scoring once was Lucas Faria, Erik Lanyi and Owen Mead.   Bushey, Eberding, Owen and Tyler Mead and John Puszcz all had assists.  Nick Clayon added to the effort with five ground balls and Travis Tracy had two.

Goalie Reagan Penner had six saves in the outing.  This win at home brings Sparta to 8-7 for the season. 

Sparta girls fell to Hunterdon Central 14-7 in their Quarterfinal game on Friday at home.  Julia Silvertri had three goals, Mackenzie Maguire had two and Alex Curran and Beth McGraw each had one.  Julia Corrice, Maguire and McGraw also contributed with one assist each.  Corrice and McGraw both had two ground balls.

The Spartan girls record is 8-7 for the season so far.  They will face Villa Walsh on Tuesday, May 12 at 4 p.m.

SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta police are asking the community for help in locating a person of interest in several car burglaries.

SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a light pole.  On January 9 around 11 p.m. Sparta police Cpl. Kurt Morris responded to the report of a naccident on West Shore Trail near White Deer Plaza according to police.
