ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – The Quick Center for the Arts is offering three youth summer camps.

The first scheduled is a four-day Experiential Art Camp, July 9, 10, 11 and 12, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The camp has space for 15 participants who will be entering grades 2 through 5 in the fall, and the price per camper is $150. Using the Quick collections as the backdrop for experiential learning, campers will develop their creative and artistic talents during this four-day camp. Participants will be instructed in basic drawing techniques, practice mixing paint to construct a landscape or portrait work and tiles using acrylic pouring, recreate photographic and collage techniques, and create assemblage sculptures and clay pieces. This is the perfect camp for someone with a budding interest in the visual arts or the camper who wishes to develop enhanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The next is a  four-day World Cultures Camp, scheduled for July 23, 24, 25 and 26, This camp also has space for 15 participants who will be entering grades 2 through 5 in the fall, and the price per camper is $150. The center invites participants to travel the world on an ARTventure, experiencing different cultures with artworks from the Quick Center collection as their guides. Participants will experience the food, music and art of different cultures, making connections through language, history and science while undertaking art projects designed to promote exploration and inquiry.

The final camp is the five-day Super STEAM Camp, scheduled for Aug. 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The camp has space for 10 participants who will be entering grades 4 through 8 in the fall, and the price per camper is $150; the $50 lab fee is refundable upon completion of the camp. Participants will meet at the intersection of Art and Science in an immersive camp. Campers will learn basic animation and coding to design custom photos and videos, making works of art come to life and creating interactive art surfaces. They will discover how artists employ concepts, mathematical equations and psychological principles to create eye-catching and thought-provoking works of art, and they will create custom, one-of-a-kind works using robotics, wind and solar energy, and chemical reactions.
