SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Beginning Monday, Aug. 4, a large section of Raritan Road will be closed for milling, repaving and striping. This work will close Raritan Road from Rahway Road to Overlook Way -- including the intersection of Raritan and Rahway. ALL THRU TRAFFIC will be diverted.
If you are familiar with this area, you already know that there are no quick detours. Plan an alternate route and avoid the area altogether. Motorists wishing to access to Inman Avenue will have to detour to either the Martine Extension to Featherbed Lane or to Woodland Avenue in Plainfield to Inman. If you live in the affected area, you may be asked to approach your home from another direction depending on where the work is being done at the time.
Scotch Plains Police Officers will be on site to enforce the closure and to assist residents as needed. This project will tentatively end on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
